Wouldn't you know that as soon as I begin to write someone off...they surprise me. I thought Adam might have been a serial killer, but apparently that's not the case. Yep...I have another date lined up with him. That's right...a SECOND date with the same guy. This looks somewhat promising. But I absolutely am NOT getting my hopes up just yet. See in this post-dating world we live in, right around the 3rd or 4th date is when I usually lose their interest or I lose interest in them. I guess because I've been out with them enough to realize that this is not someone I can see myself with long term and vice-versa. Which is simply part of the dating world and something I've come to accept. But in the past, these "dates" I speak of, were more like group hangs and meeting at bars with friends. There was a certain "comfort level" established by parties we already knew so that if we decided we weren't that fond of one another, we could play it off casually, or if we did hit it off, we could peel off from the group.
But Adam is approaching this completely differently than most 25 year olds. He's not hiding behind his friends. He's legit taking me out on one-on-one dates - which shows he's comfortable with me (hopefully). And next week will be our second date. Imagine, a guy who actually respects the old-school fashion of dating? And here I thought that this species no longer existed!
Guess I shouldn't write off my generation so quickly. At least not until I have experienced a brush with death.
